Welcome to the Chatroom
The chatroom is your place to communicate with members live and direct, without the lag of an email exchange. You can host or join a room with many members, or focus in on a more intimate conversation with a single member - whatever suits your mood.

Once in a room, you simply need to type the text you would like to send in the text box at the top of the page and click "Send." You can manually reload the page if needed by clicking on the "Reload" button.

Inviting People to Join Your Network
You can invite people to join your Network and respond to such invitations directly from the chatroom. To send an invite, highlight the member's handle in the room list to the left of the chat, then click the "Invite to Network" button just below. A message will appear in the chat, visible only to the selected member, informing them of the invitation and giving them the option to accept or decline by clicking one of the accompanying links. In either case, another message (only visible to the sender) will appear in the chat, informing them of the invitee's decision.

If the chat scrolls the invite away before you can respond, don't worry... the invite is still available in your Network pages. Click on Network on the menu bar, and the invite will be there for you to accept or decline.

Manage Your Ignore List:
If you are in a chatroom and do not wish to see messages from a certain chatter (or chatters), you can put them on your "Ignore List" and make them invisible. That means you will no longer be able to see any text they type and send into the chatroom. You may add as many chatters to your list as you want and remove them at any time.

To Add Someone to Your Ignore List:
  1. From the list of members in the chatroom, click on the handle of the member you wish to ignore.
  2. Click on the Ignore button.
  3. Repeat as necessary.

To Remove Someone from Your Ignore List:
  1. Click on the Chat Options button.
  2. Click on the handle of the member you wish to remove.
  3. Click on Remove From Ignore.
Basic Preferences:
Your Chat Options box also allows you to turn on or off “Smilies” (emoticons), as well as select your Refresh Rate, Text Size, Font Face and Text Color. You may even create your own custom text color for a more personal touch.

Smilies:
Smilies, or emoticons, are small icons that convey how you’re feeling – happy, sad, angry. We also have a variety of “just for fun” icons to use during chat room conversations. Adjust your settings by clicking on the Chat Options button. If you’d like to view and use emoticons, leave the Smilies box unchecked. To turn them off, check the box and click on Update.

Refresh Rate:
This setting controls how often chatroom windows update and display new messages typed by other members. Change this setting by clicking on the Chat Options button. From the first pull-down menu, select the number of seconds you want between refreshes. Click on Update to submit your preference.

Text Size:
This controls the font of ALL text typed and entered into the chatrooms, not just the size of your text. Set the preference by clicking on the Chat Options button. Choose Small, Medium, or Large Text from the first pull-down menu. Click on Update (below Custom Colors) to see the new text size.

Font Face:
Like the text size option, this controls the font face of ALL text typed and entered into the chatrooms, not just yours. Select your font face by clicking on the Chat Options button. Choose your font from the second pull-down menu. Click on Update (below Custom Colors) to see the new font.

Colors:
This option allows you to adjust the color of the text you enter into the chatrooms. To choose a color, click on the Chat Options button. Use the pull-down menu to select a color. Click on Update to submit and make visible your color choice.

Custom Colors:
If you wish to create your own custom color for your chatroom text, please follow these steps:
  1. Click on the Chat Options button.
  2. From the Colors pull-down menu, select "Use Custom".
  3. Select the amount of red you want in your color. This is a range from 0 to 15.
  4. Select the amount of green you want in your color. This is a range from 0 to 15.
  5. Select the amount of blue you want in your color. This is a range from 0 to 15.
  6. Click on Update to save and make visible your preferences.
